AROONA enables implementation of new ERP system

The issue
The Ermitage cheese dairy is based in Pays de Clerval. Its plant in Clerval-Ermitage has an OM1 multimode fiber infrastructure (62.5/125) with a maximum throughput of 100 Mbps. This limitation prevented the rollout of a new ERP system with a minimum throughput requirement of 1 Gbps. A standard rip-and-replace upgrade was not feasible because the existing cable trenches could no longer be accessed.
The AROONA solution
Ermitage decided to install a compact AROONA-STAR module to increase the throughput of one of its 300 m multimode links from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps. This passive solution was identified as an alternative to major upgrade works since the optical fiber could not be replaced.
The benefits of the solution
- Cost effective: no expensive optical fiber replacement
- No constraints: service interruption limited to 1 hour
