AROONA meets the ever increasing demand for data transfer

The issue

Blancheporte, an online and catalog retailer specializing in clothing and household linen, wanted to perform a complete upgrade of its local network at its headquarters in Tourcoing, France.

The first requirement was to increase the throughput to 10 Gb/s to ensure the transfer of increasingly large data volumes (graphics) while also anticipating future bandwidth needs.

Blancheporte’s second requirement was to create redundant connections between technical rooms.
However, the existing OM1 multimode fiber network was not able to achieve 10Gb/s.

Despite the relatively short distance between buildings (less than 150 m), the underground section duct was degraded, making it impossible to lay new single-mode fiber to achieve the required throughput.

The AROONA solution

Since laying new fiber-optic cable would be a very complicated process, reusing the existing fibers with AROONA was the most appropriate solution.

After installation of the AROONA passive rack in the network cabinet, 12 OM1 multimode links, between the server room and 6 technical rooms were upgraded to 10 Gb/s.

The benefits of the solution
  • 10 Gb/s throughput instead of a limit of 1 Gb/s
  • Implementation of a 10 Gb/s redundant network
  • 1 single box required
  • Easy to install
