Cailabs joins Brittany’s Economic Mission to Japan
From November 25 to 29, 2024, Cailabs had the honor of participating in an economic mission to Japan, organized by the Brittany Region and led by its President, Loïg Chesnais-Girard. The initiative aimed to strengthen economic ties between Brittany and Japan, explore new export opportunities, and attract investments to our region.
A Long-Standing Relationship Between Brittany and Japan
Brittany has enjoyed a unique relationship with Japan for decades. These ties were notably strengthened in the 1970s and 1980s with the establishment of major Japanese companies such as Canon, which continue to play a significant role in the Breton economy. Today, 19 Japanese companies operate in Brittany, contributing to thousands of local jobs.
This mission continued a legacy of durable and strategic cooperation built on shared values such as trust and quality work. Discussions focused on key topics such as cybersecurity, energy, defense, healthcare, and the space industry.
Showcasing Breton Innovation
Cailabs, alongside two other innovative Breton companies — Unseenlabs (a satellite operator specializing in maritime surveillance) and OSO AI (a medtech company developing caregiver support solutions) — proudly represented the region’s technological excellence. These companies exemplify Brittany’s ability to compete on the global stage with cutting-edge innovation.
Supporting Breton Businesses Internationally
Supported by Breizh Up, Brittany’s regional investment fund, the delegation highlighted the region’s strengths in innovation and entrepreneurship. By fostering connections with Japanese stakeholders, the Brittany Region actively supported businesses in expanding their international presence.
For Cailabs, this mission was a unique opportunity to showcase its advanced laser beam shaping solutions for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. It also served as a platform to reinforce our presence in the Asian market while contributing to Brittany’s reputation as a hub of innovation.
A Region Open to the World
The mission to Japan is part of a broader strategy to enhance Brittany’s international presence and boost exports. This initiative reflects the region’s ambitious approach to building lasting global connections and expanding its influence worldwide.
Cailabs is proud to be part of this initiative that highlights Breton expertise and actively contributes to the economic development of our region on the international stage.
